Location: The Wayfarer's Chapel
Well considering we have been together for nine and a half years, we figured we might as well get married. Last year we were supposed to go on a cruise with the family. Due to time constraints and financial difficulties we were unable to go. At that time, I figured why don’t we go next year. And an idea popped in my head. I figured well, since most of everyone will be going on the cruise, why don’t we get married. I looked into getting married on Catalina Island first, decided against it. Didn’t want to take away from other people getting to enjoy the island since we will only be there for a short time. Then I looked at a shipboard wedding. We almost did this one. I was calculating how much it would cost us, when I stumbled upon the website for The Wayfarer’s Chapel. I fell in love with the chapel, and that was that.
The wedding will be at the Wayfarers Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes. Wayfarers Chapel, a most unusual church made almost entirely of glass, is sponsored by the Swedenborgian Church and serves as a national memorial to Emanuel Swedenborg. When the Chapel was built in 1951 it stood alone like a precious jewel on a deserted dusty knoll overlooking the blue Pacific. It was soon to be known as “the glass church” after its most prominent architectural feature.Today, what you are looking at is not a glass church but a “tree chapel.” Chapel architect Lloyd Wright, son of the renowned American architectural pioneer Frank Lloyd Wright, had been inspired by the cathedral-like majesty of the redwood trees in northern California. The redwood trees that surround the Chapel are forming living walls and roof.

From the beginning I have not wanted to plan a seperate reception. This was supposed to be quick and easy. There will be a group party during the cruise for us to celebrate our wedding and have the reception then. So please be aware of that if you are not booked on the cruise.
If you plan on staying locally prior to the wedding or cruise I recommend that since the wedding is in Rancho Palos Verdes (which is about 25 to 30 min north of Long Beach) that you book rooms there or in San Pedro. To book rooms in downtown Long Beach it will be costly due to the amt of cruisers that stay. The cheaper hotels in Long Beach are not in good areas and I do not recommend them.

I will be creating a packet of information. Please contact if you wish to receive one.
