December 16, 2007 Jeff and I were set up on a blind date by our good friends Richard and Carolyn McClure. We all decided to meet at Southern Junction on a Saturday night. Neither one of us really wanted to go, but when Jeff and I saw each other we had an instant connection and were very glad that we went. We talked, danced and talked some more until 2:00 am. Jeff walked me out and since it was cold I let him get in my car. Neither one of us wanted to say goodbye. Jeff said, “I know this might be crazy, but would you like to come with me to my Christmas Company party tomorrow night?” I said, “Of course, but don’t you already have a date?” He said, “If I did, I’d cancel it.” Ahhhhhh!
Ever since that day we have enjoyed every moment we have gotten to spend together and have fallen in love with every single second that passes. We have enjoyed meeting and getting to know each other’s children and family members. We enjoy riding Jeff’s Harley together. We enjoy cooking together. We enjoy going to the movies together. We enjoy visiting Josh in Nacogdoches and watching him play football. We enjoy visiting Jordan and Amanda in Abilene. We enjoy watching Becca dance at her competitions. We enjoy horseback riding with Janee and watching her cheer. We enjoy hanging out with Rachel and Brynn (her best friend, aka, my third daughter) and talking about golf and boys and how both of them are going to be so mad at us if Rachel has to switch schools. We even enjoy going on service calls together.
October 4, 2008, Jeff took me to MiPiaci for a nice dinner date and surprised me by asking me to marry him. During dinner he was keeping the ring in his boot and carried in a camera by his side that I didn’t know about. After I said yes, OF COURSE, the waiter came over and brought us two glasses of champagne and said that they were from John, Jeff’s brother, and said welcome to the family. Ahhhhh-again! The waiter reached down where Jeff hid the camera and took our picture!
Everyday since then Jeff has been begging me to set a date and just marry him already. Well, little did I know how hard it was going to be to get all of our kids together because of their busy schedules with spring football training, dance competitions, graduations, etc. So Jeff decided that all of this wishy-washiness was silly and he booked a cruise for April 5th, 2009. He asked, “How does April 4th sound?” I said, “It sounds wonderful, sweetie! April 4th it is!"
We thank God everyday for bringing us together when he did!
